Program Assistant

We are seeking a responsible, self-motivated Program Assistant to join our team of young professionals to help further the development of our fast-growing, dynamic business.

Founded in 1980, Steve and Kate's Camp is a well-established company currently in the midst of a rapid expansion effort. In response to overshelming demand by Bay Area parents, we have opened two new sites in the past two years and plan to open several more in the immediate future. Our daily attendance has grown 70% over these two years, now reaching an average of 650-700 children a day with a staff of over 100 summer employees. Our unique philosophy centers around the concept of individualized education and custom solutions.

The Program Assistant will work closely with the team of Directors and gain valuable experience in all aspects of managing a business. We are looking for someone who believes in our philosophy and approach, has a strong work ethic, and is interested in learning about the youth programming industry. Responsibilities are outlined below:

Administrative: Ordering and organizing office supplies, managing schedules, filing, bookkeeping, responding to phone and email inqires, and other duties as needed.

Marketing: Obtaining quotes for marketing materials, distibuting flyers and brochures throughout the communities we serve, and preparing mailings. Schedulilng, preparing, and assisting with the set-up and takedown of camp fair presentations and community events.

Community Relations: Establishing and maintaining community relationships with schools, not-for-profit organizations, and businesses in the communities we serve. Managing and tracking domations to schools.

Purchasing: Obtaining quotes, negotiating prices, coordinating delivery schedules, picking up local supplies and equipment, and making purchases for camp equipment such as computers, sound booths, and custom inflatables. Sorting supplies, tracking inventory, and organizing storage areas.

Program Development: Researching new activities, systems, and equipment and making recommendations to the management team.

During the summer, the Program Assistant will be working at a camp location interacting with parents, children, and staff, managing the camp headquarters, tracking inventory, and supporting the daily operations of all of our camp locations.

The ideal candidate will have (or be working toward) a college degree, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, and the ability to multitask. In addition, the candidate will have a positive attitude and the desire to directly contribute to the expansion of a small business dedicated to youth programming. Experience using Apple computers, Microsoft Office, and Internet Applications a must. Experience with QuickBooks and the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve tech issues a plus.
