Mike Saperstein
This is Mike’s 15th year at Steve and Kate’s Camp. He has worked on virtually all aspects of the camp and is now focused on business development and marketing. Mike spent a year in Paris studying at Sciences-Po and working at Deloitte & Touche before graduating from UC San Diego. When Mike was young, he used to play hide and seek with his brother by hiding his head under a pillow. He thought that if he couldn’t see his brother, his brother couldn’t see him. Mike is not allowed to hide the chicken for Find the Rubber Chicken.

Kevin White
This is Kevin’s 16th year working at Steve & Kate’s Camp. He manages all the camp operations and handles all the finances. Kevin is a graduate of UC Berkeley where he majored in Business. Steve and Kate have known Kevin since he was 5 years old because he was also a camper at Steve & Kate’s Camp.

Jen Rodrigue
This is Jen’s 14th year at Steve & Kate’s Camp. She manages all our administrative matters. Jen and her husband, Tyler, have wonderful young children, James who is 4 and Emma who is 2. After graduating from UC Berkeley, Jen earned her teaching credential in 2003 and now has a master’s in Education from Dominican University. When Jen was a baby she confused day and night, so she slept while it was light and liked to be awake when it was dark. It’s a good thing for our day camp that she fixed that little mix-up.

Jennifer Gastrich
This is Jennifer’s 7th year with Steve & Kate’s Camp. She manages all matters related to hiring and staffing. Jennifer comes to us from New York City, where she directed a summer day camp for elementary school children and earned her Master’s of Public Administration from NYU. She has been working with children for many years as a program manager, coach, tutor and mentor. As a child (and even now), Jennifer didn’t like wearing shoes…so you will most likely find her in the “no shoe zone” of the Jurassic inflatable.

DiNardo (Steve)
DiNardo (his first name is Steve too, so we like to call him DiNardo to avoid confusion) is among the newest members of Steve and Kate’s Camp, overseeing all aspects of Marketing and Branding. DiNardo’s background includes marketing and management in higher education, as well as many years in radio programming, executive management and publicity. As a kid, he and his brother developed what would become a lifelong obsession with music, and have performed together in various bands in Boston, New York and the Bay Area. If your kids want to learn about playing the bass or careers in radio- DiNardo’s your man.

Nate Kennedy
This will be Nate’s 5th year with Steve & Kate’s Camp. An Ohio native, Nate studied Industrial Design at The Ohio State University. For the past two summers he has worked as a recording specialist with camp’s most famous rock stars and divas. He’s now joined the year-round team to help develop our music recording program and manage the camp’s off-season “studio” (aka the warehouse). His passion is creating and performing music and whether or not at camp, he is serenading whoever will listen.

Liz Upchurch
After taking an 8-month trip around the world, Liz found that the best place on earth to spend the summer is Steve & Kate’s Camp. It’s her 5th summer with us. Liz is originally from Ohio where she spent almost 10 years developing and implementing innovative programs for children and youth with a non-profit organization. At an early age, Liz developed a love for food and cooking and she can often be found testing new recipes in the Culinary Studio to find the perfect summer snack.

Jane Orr
Jane, in her 3rd year with us, is our Information Strategist and the Program Director for our Palo Alto site. She comes to us with a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences and worked for many years as an environmental consultant and project manager before pursuing a career in education. Before coming to Steve and Kate’s Camp, Jane was working as a nature and outdoor educator. Originally from England, Jane believes that pretty much all of life’s crises can be solved by a proper cup of tea.

Callie Rae McCarthy
This is Callie Rae’s 2nd year with Steve & Kate’s camp. Originally from the Sunshine State, Callie Rae got her master’s degree in education from the University of Florida. After graduating she worked at a variety of alternative educational settings including a Montessori school, a summer reading program, and, of course, summer camps. At camp, you’ll most often find her hanging with the rubber chicken in the performing arts, style, and culinary studios.

Emily Foell
This is Emily’s fourth year at Steve and Kate’s Camp. Since completing her Masters in English Lit at San Francisco State University, Emily has officially traded in the student life of essays and deadlines for the camp life of sunshine and smiles. When she’s not warming up for the next coneball game you can find her dropping beats in the Recording Studio or honing her finger-knitting skills in the Style Studio.

Sarah Hewett
This is Sarah’s 5th year with Steve & Kate’s Camp. After graduating from the University of Oregon, Sarah spent seven months living and traveling in Australia, New Zealand and Thailand, but returned to the U.S. just in time for another summer at camp. Since starting as a Kindercamp Staff, Sarah hasn’t been able to stay away and is returning as our Program Director at the SF Presidio Heights site. She’s also finding good use of her summer tutu-making, karaoke-singing, inflatable-jumping experience in our warehouse helping to order and organize supplies.
