Director

We are seeking a Director to join our team of young professionals to help further the development of our fast-growing, dynamic business. Founded in 1980, Steve and Kate's Camp is a well-established company currently in the midst of a rapid expansion effort. In response to overshelming demand by Bay Area parents, we have opened two new sites in the past two years and plan to open several more in the immediate future. Our daily attendance has grown 70% over these two years, now reaching an average of 650-700 children a day with a staff of over 100 summer employees.

We are looking for a responsible, self-motivated, creative leader who believes in our business model and philosophy. Steve and Kate's Camp philosophy revolves around the idea that each and every child is unique. We design our systems and programs around the concept of individualized education and customized solutions. Our flexible enrollment system allows families the luxury of last minute decisions with no financial consequences. In short; don't play, don't pay. As a Director, you will join the management team responsible for all aspects of running and growing a business including marketing, expansion strategies, operations, purchasing, human resources, and program development. This is a rare opportunity to gain valuable management expeirence in a multitude of areas and have an immediate impact on the sucess of our business. During the summeer, you will be responsible for the management of one of our camp locations. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining relationships with parents, campers, and community members, supervising, supporting, motivating, and inspiring staff, evaluating activities and systems, working with external vendors, and overseeing site maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have a college degree, leadership and/or management experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience working with children, proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, and strong problem solving and decision-making skills. Camp experience and a sense of humor is a plus. Directors average 40 hours per week during the planning months and 60 hours per week during the summer. Directors must be available for the entire 9-10 week camp session and oversee the set-up and takedown of camp. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
